Professional Learning Options

Whole School Approach

It’s all about precision - not prescription! This is my preferred approach and also the most popular with schools. Possible learning frameworks include: Modelling and demonstration lessons (including pre-brief/de-brief with staff); Introduce differentiated instructional strategies for READING, WRITING, ORAL LANGUAGE and SPELLING; Literacy Learning Walks and staff feedback; Planning with teachers; Introduce daily reading and writing focus sheets; Enhancing learning and classroom environments; Review or establish a whole school assessment schedule; Establishing a student data tracking wall; Assist Literacy and Library Resource recommendations; Followed by after school PL to bring it all together. Most schools opt for fortnightly visits, some 4 times a term, others include a couple of curriculum days to enhance the learning…this is something we can discuss!

After School Professional Learning

This can be with the whole school or we can break out in teams or learning communities. It really is up to you.! As mentioned, I do not come with a program so I am able to plan for point of need - It might be to review and plan in accordance with your School Improvement Plan; Or maybe it’s providing teachers with differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of students. Check out the Whole School Approach for possible PL foci. In addition, I love getting parents involved - so parent information and workshop options are available too! Let’s chat!

Year Level Support

Meeting with teachers for PLANNING - daily, weekly or constructing a skeletal Term overview together; DEMONSTRATING lessons - including pre-brief and de-brief; ANALYSING student data and planning for future instruction. LINKING Literacy with Inquiry and other Australian Curriculum areas

Curriculum Days

Great way to bring staff together in a relaxed environment to explore ideas and establish a whole school approach to the teaching and learning of literacy. Whatever your focus is - I’ve got a day or half day of engaging, interacting and research based ideas for you. Looking forward to planning these together!

Combine the options!

You might like to start with a staff meeting to make sure we are the right fit. Follow this with a curriculum day to build on the relationship, add in a few school visits and away we go!

With everything life has thrown at us over the last 2 years - I am also happy to report that I am available to work remotely with staff too (although I much prefer to see you all in person!)
